Our Belgian-built Spider palletizer can be equipped with various grippers via a quick-change system. However, one of our customers presented us with a challenge: designing a gripper for open trays, closed cartons and display boxes. We succeeded. A gripper change is not necessary when switching the type of packaging.
In addition, the gripper must be able to lay cardboard sheets between the layers. The gripper automatically takes sheets of a stack from a specially designed large hopper and places them perfectly aligned on the layer of cartons.
Four Spider gantry robots have already been installed palletizing eight production lines. A double Spider for the ninth and tenth line is under construction and the provisions for empty pallet supply and full pallet discharge have been made to automatically palletize up to fifteen lines.
